Health and Wellbeing Research News Links: Reading and Weeding
|
This service first developed in January 2006 and grew from our health and wellbeing research work with young people and their health related behaviour. Using many Internet search tools and numerous keywords new research links are displayed each month as Research News Resources. Despite the advantages of using information technology, to produce a simple reproduction of research abstracts, the process relies on the experience, judgement and time of SHEU staff to ensure the final result is unique and, judging by the comments, relevant to those working with young people. We can sometimes make a link to a complete research article. Mostly the link is to an abstract from a journal article. There are a number of ways to access a complete research article. You could try emailing the main author from the abstract page. If you are attached to an institution eg. school, college, hospital etc. then try your institution's library. If you are in the UK and a member of your local council library then try an inter-library loan. In 2011 a photocopied article for personal research cost around £4 depending on your local council. You can purchase most articles online from the relevant journal usually via the abstract page. In 2011 in the UK this cost around £30 but this varies depending on the publication. In the UK you can also purchase an article via the British Library (no need for membership). In 2011 this cost around £30 but this varies greatly depending on the publication. Please contact David McGeorge if you have any questions about the above. |
